PARTNERSHIP FOR PROGRESS
Bruker Corporation (NASDAQ: BRKR) www.bruker.com is a leading provider of high performance scientific instruments and solutions for molecular and materials research, as well as industrial, diagnostics and applied analysis. Among numerous other offered technologies, Bruker is the market and technology leader in the field of MALDI imaging.
Since 2013, Bruker and SCiLS maintain a close strategic partnership for software tools for MALDI imaging. The software package SCiLS Lab is official part of Bruker’s integrated MALDI imaging solution and it supports data analysis from all of Bruker’s MALDI imaging mass spectrometers.
Center for Industrial Mathematics, University of Bremen
The Center for Industrial Mathematics (ZeTeM) (www.zetem.uni-bremen.de) at the University of Bremen deals with the formulation and solution of complex problems from the natural sciences and engineering using modern methods of applied mathematics. By conducting research and industrial projects with users from business and science, ZeTeM transfers the latest mathematical methods into the companies and institutes and thus facilitates their use in applications.
SCiLS was founded in 2012 as a spin-off of ZeTeM. SCiLS as a research and development oriented company, today still maintains a close partnership with ZeTeM with joint research and development projects in the field of computational data analysis.
MALDI Imaging Lab, University of Bremen
The MALDI Imaging Lab (MIL) (www.maldi.uni-bremen.de) was founded in 2011 as an interdisciplinary lab at both Department of Biochemistry and the Center for Industrial Mathematics of the University of Bremen. In 2013, MIL became DFG-official core facility.
SCiLS intensively collaborates with the MIL and both are partnering in several research projects. MIL and SCiLS jointly investigate and further improve the reproducibility of MALDI imaging measurements which is required for a more intensive use of the MALDI imaging technology in several routine applications, including clinical and pathohistological diagnostic settings.
ProteoPath www.proteopath.de has been founded in 2012 as a spin-off from ÜBAG Trier-Düren-Düsseldorf (link: http://www.patho-trier.de/) and the institute of molecular pathology Trier (www.molekularpatho-trier.de). The ÜBAG Trier is Germany’s largest healthcare center for histology, cytology und molecular diagnostics. ProteoPath focusses on MALDI imaging based services supporting pathological diagnostics.
ProteoPath and SCiLS maintain an intensive collaboration with joint research projects. Research projects with ProteoPath deal with the development of standard operating procedure for clinical routine workflows and the development of novel computational tools for pathology based on MALDI imaging.
